Pieces of Me
First of May

Happy 25th Anniversary, Manny and Marj Libo-on!

I was very honored to play a part in this special event, the silver anniversary of my best friend's parents. It was a fun, romantic event that will always be remembered with fondness.

Preparations for this event started a few months ago, if I recall correctly. JP and I had endless discussions about venue and sequence of events. We also spent hours searching for the perfect present she could give to her mom and dad.

The day of the celebration was a hectic one. We were all to meet at Punta Villa, the venue for the reception before going to Sta. Maria Parish for the renewal of vows Mass.

Since the Mass was to be in the evening, the photographer took pictures of the entourage at Punta Villa. He took advantage of the scenery, such as the fountain and the river. It's a very picturesque place.

Finally, we made it to the church.

JP, the maid of honor, thoroughly enjoyed her solo walk down the aisle. She insisted it might be her only chance to do so, which is why she was adamant about not walking in between the best men, Rostum and Julius.

I went through my duties as commentator. To tell you the truth, I was scared to death -- I've never commentated at such an important event. Eight priests in all, one of who was Tita Marj's cousin, concelebrated the Mass.

renewal of vows

The Vows

Manny: I, Manny, this day renew, before God and His Church, the marriage vows, I made on that day I wedded you, Nene. Before God I took you as my wife. I promised to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, until death. I promised to love and honor you all the days of my life.

Like kids unsure of directions, we faced the world of married life, which appeared very tall for us. We were small compared to it. But with love and God sustaining us, we grew and succeeded in laughing the time away. We walked tall and did not have to ask the time of day.

Today I repeat those promises with all my heart, joining to them the gratitude to God for the blessings with which He has sustained our life together; and my gratitude to you, Nene, for the affection and concern and faithfulness that you, as my beloved wife, have given me.

Marjorie: And I, Nene, this day renew before God and His Church the marriage vows I made on the day I married you, Manny. I took you to be my husband. I promised to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, until death; I promised to love and honor you all the days of my life. Yes, we faced the world of married life headlong, but God was with us; and together we took the green from the grass and the blue from the skies to color our world.

Today, I repeat those promises, with all my heart, joining to them the thanks I owe to God, for all that he has given to us and JP during the past twenty-five years, and my thanks also to you, Manny, for all your love and faithfulness and care.

The picture-taking after the Mass took nearly as long as the Mass itself! But soon we were on our way back to Punta Villa for the reception.

Ma'am Girlie Libutaque emceed the reception while Ma'am Liberty Rendaje-Porras had choreographed the Libo-ons' tango number. Tito Manny and Tita Marj may not be the world's best dancers, but they had fun.

JP and Julius danced to the song "Ikaw" which has special meaning for her parents. They dance well together. It was an ambitious routine, though, with a lot of lifts. We were all grateful they got through it without Julius dropping JP.

After the reception, we spent the night there. I was told I talk in my sleep. Hmmmmmm....I never knew that. :) Hope I didn't scare anyone!

Anyways, that's about it. I mostly have just pictures.
